Olwen Narbey - March 1975 -

Olwen Claire Thomson was born in Nottingham Hospital for Women, Peel Street on March 17, 1975. Olwen arrived 10 days early and as a result was small - only 5lb 40z in weight. We lost twins between the two girls. Olwen always wanted to keep up with Bronwen and often said, “Me too!” Her breathing tubes were small and once when I was feeding her at home she couldn’t breathe - very scary!! I was upstairs and stamped my feet very hard on the floor. Fortunately Peter was at home and came rushing up to help me. He sensibly tipped Olwen upside down and patted her firmly on the back. This worked well and Olwen took a deep breath and continued feeding - phew! She has been beautiful and healthy ever since. Bronwen and Olwen are 3 years and six months apart in age. Bronwen loved having a little sister and delighted in sharing her with friends in the Close. Olwen may have been born small but she was strong and never looked back.
