Malcolm and Kathleen Gibbs
Malcolm (Max) and Kathleen (Kay)
Malcolm Kitchener Gibbs returned from the war in late 1943, and married his long-time girlfriend, Kathleen Mary Muir at St Kilda Methodist Church, Dunedin. They had previously discussed how they would spend their married lives. Malcolm came from a small rural town, Owaka in the Catlins and Kathleen came from the city of Dunedin. They decided to spend half their time in Owaka and half in Dunedin - to be fair. Once married they left for Owaka where Malcolm had been given support from the government to buy a grocery store. They worked together in M K Gibbs Four Square store for nearly 20 years. Then in fairness, they moved to Fairfield Dunedin to see out their married life in the city.
